              archives + digital

Before moving to Japan, I worked in UK museum and gallery archives, in archivist and digitisation-based positions. These include the Courtauld Institute of Art, The Photographers’ Gallery, and the British Film Institute . See my about page for more info.

While in Tokyo during 2023, I worked at Tokyo Arts Council in a research-based position to help expand and re-design the Tokyo Museum Collections (ToMuCo) database and website.

personal research

I enjoy researching design + material culture, and have an ongoing research project focusing on Japanese handmade papers - specifically gikakushi (擬革紙), a type of paper from Japan’s Edo period which was produced to imitate leather. I first became interested in Japanese material culture during my MA in History of Design at the V&A Museum and Royal College of Art, London, and my MA research brought me to Japan through a scholarship with the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation.
